**Reconstitution Protocols**
Reconstitution is the process of dissolving the lyophilized powder into a liquid solution for experimental use.
1. **Solvent Selection:** Bacteriostatic water (water containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol) is the gold standard for peptide reconstitution. The benzyl alcohol acts as a preservative, preventing bacterial growth and extending the shelf-life of the liquid peptide to 3-4 weeks.
2. **The Reconstitution Process:** Slowly inject the bacteriostatic water down the side of the glass vial. *Do not shoot the water directly into the peptide powder.*
3. **Dissolution:** Never shake the vial. Gently swirl or roll the vial between your fingers until the solution is completely clear. Vigorous shaking can shear and destroy the fragile amino acid chains.
